Spring 2015

Welcome back to the After School Program Blog!
We hope you're enjoying the winter lineup of after school activities! Just a reminder…we are running programs for the entire school year, with the exception of the very first week of school in September and the very last week of school in June (in accordance with TDSB policy).
There will be announcements the first week of spring programs to let students know where each program is located. The kids should go straight there after the bell rings at 3:30 and programs will start at 3:45. Please let your child's teacher know ahead of time if they are attending programs so the teacher knows how to dismiss them safely.
REGISTRATION:
Registration for Spring Programs will close on Monday March 9th, though late registration will be allowed if space is available. As always, you sign up directly with the program providers using the links available through the program calendar. Click on the program name within the calendar for a full description of the program. Then click on the link within the description to access the registration sites. Once you've registered you'll be communicating directly with the program providers about any schedule changes, etc.
PROGRAM CANCELLATION:
Programs will run if enough students sign up. Sometimes individual programs don't get enough interest and we have to cancel. Spring programs with insufficient enrolment will be cancelled, and parents notified, by Monday March 9th.
KINDERGARTEN:
Because kindergarten classes are dismissed at 3:15, we offer JK/SK specific programming starting at 3:30 and finishing at 4:45. Kindergarten programs are run separately and are being offered 5 days a week.
FRIDAYS:
Fridays are typically less busy, so we are offering one combined program for our youngest, JK-Grade 2.  Friday programs will begin at 3:30 for the Kindergarten crowd and Grade 1 & 2 kids will join them once they are dismissed.
ABSENCE:
If your child is missing a session, please contact the program providers directly to let them know that your child will be absent, even if you have already notified the school office.
DISMISSAL:
All programs end at 4:45. The students will be escorted to the front doors and the instructors will wait there until all students have been picked up. Please let the program providers know who will be picking up your child.

Off-site Programs
Premier Gymnastics
The kids would have to be brought to and from the gym by their parents or care givers.
Our gymnastics program offers a variety of classes suited for children ages from 3 to 12. Younger kids are introduced to basic gymnastics skills and older children are able to learn more advanced skills, improve their strength and flexibility while having fun.  Classes run from 4 to 8 p.m. and are 1 hour and 1 1/2 hours long.  http://www.torontopremiergymnastics.com/
Artists' Play Studio
The exciting and fun Dance Club runs on Wednesdays and Thursdays at our Studio. We also offer Walking programs that lead into our dance classes everyday of the week.  For more information visit: www.artistsplay.com or call 416-309-7529
Jumping Clay
Jumping Clay is a safe and non-toxic air-drying clay.  It is water soluble and mess-free.  We use the clay as an educational tool to promote culture and learning with programs that facilitate a "Learn Through Play" mindset which appeals to children of all ages.  By making simple geometry shapes and putting them together, you can create beautiful 2-D and 3-D artworks.  Every week, the children will be guided and taught step by step lessons on making different projects which they will take home at the end of every class.  The children will also learn team building and at some point make a big diorama.  There will be one class on Tuesday for 4-8 year olds and Wednesday for 9 and up, we provide a walk over program.  http://www.jumpingclay.ca/
Wilmington Tennis is Back!

Pricing : Once a week = $162+HST; Twice a week = $264+HST (save $60)
We will provide a FREE After School Care for children enrolled in the 4:45pm class for the hour before their lesson. During this time, they will be supervised by one of our staff members on the playground. If any parents wish to volunteer their time, we are happy to have more eyes.
With the back-up gym space secured at Pape Avenue, if it is raining, we will escort the children from Withrow Avenue to Pape's gym and hold the lesson indoors.
Japan Martial Arts Centre
The Japan Martial Arts Centre is a karate learning and training studio, and is the Headquarters of the IKA Canada. Children as young as 3 can participate. If you are a parent and considering karate, please read our parent's  testimonials.
