Winter 2014 - After School Program

Hello!
We hope you've had a great fall! We are ready with a new line-up of after school programs for the winter.

A few changes: We're back to 8-week sessions starting on January 13th and ending on March 7th.

We're excited to welcome The Kids Fun Factory and Red Cross. They are bringing us very exciting programming, like Hovercraft, Exciting Engineering and Baby Sitting course.

ATTENTION TO KINDERGARTEN PARENTS:

Because the time difference between the kindergarten and grade school dismissal, we offer JK/SK specific programming starting at 3:15 and finishing at 4:45. Kindergarteners can only join kindergarten specific programs because we cannot offer supervision between 3:15 and 3:30.

The rest of the line-up is mostly familiar to you, with a few tweaks and schedule changes that will hopefully work out for everybody.

There will be announcements the first week of programs, to let students know where each program is located. The kids should go straight there after the bell rings and programs will start at 3:45. Please let your child's teacher know ahead of time if they are attending programs so the teacher knows how to dismiss them safely.

If your child is missing a session please contact the program providers directly to let them know that your child will be absent.

All programs end at 4:45. The students will be escorted to the front doors and the instructors will wait there until all students have been picked up. Please let the program providers know who will be picking up your child.

As always, you sign up directly with the program providers using the links below, and once you've registered you'll be communicating directly with the program providers about about any schedule changes, etc.

Programs will run if enough students sign up. Sometimes individual programs don't get enough interest and we have to cancel. That's why we're constantly striving to find fun and exciting programs and to cater to a variety of interests.

Karate is a great way of building up confidence by increasing a child's self esteem.
Our Karate instructors will not only teach your child to punch and kick, but they will also remind them to be polite, well mannered and well behaved.
Karate is about controlling your movements, which translates very well into the classroom, as proven in multiple studies.

Classes are designed to help students develop fine motor skills as well as problem-solving and analytic skills as they use tools to build their very own structures such as a bird house, or train, ship, tepee, etc.

Projects focus on assembling wood model kits. The advantage of hands-on learning is that students grasp concepts easier while having fun building their take home projects.

Cost: $ 84.00 (plus HST $94.90)

Theatre Games - Grades 2 to 6

The memorization skills required to take part in a traditional school play often prohibit young kids from participating. TheatreGames incorporates many aspects of improvisational techniques in which no script is used. Instead, the actors create the dialog and action themselves, as they perform. Simple improv games draw out each child's natural talents and abilities. We will work our way to more challenging character development and improv scene work. TheatreGames can help your child:  increase self-esteem, understand the benefit of a team effort, improve listening skills, and have some good fun.

Dates: Tuesdays (Jan. 14 - Mar. 4) – 8 weeks
Cost: $93 + HST = $105.09
Registration: Please register at the website here
