Winter Session 2013

Happy Winter, everyone. We're back with another session of After School Programs to help you and your kids through the cold winter months. 
This session starts up Monday Jan. 14, which is the second week after the winter break. That means less stress for you before the Holidays. You can sign up after the break - but be warned that spaces are limited! 
It's an 8 week session, taking us right until March Break.

As per usual, you sign up directly with the program providers, following the links below, and after registration you will communicating directly with the program providers about that specific program. If you have any general questions or concerns, you can contact us via the email address at the bottom of this page.

Art Garage Workshops - Grades SK to 3

Calling all art fans! join us for our Mixed Media workshop and complete fun projects such as Cartooning - Water Colour Painting - Cut and Paste - Pastels - Felt Toys - 2D Illustrations and 3D Creations!

Dates: Mondays (Jan. 14 - March 4), 7 weeks NOTE: No class on Family Day, Feb. 18.

Mini-Tennis - Grades SK to 3 


Mini Tennis participants will be introduced to the magic of tennis!  Through games and teamwork activities we will build the fundamentals of tennis in a fun and encouraging environment. This includes developing understanding of space and basic co-ordination for little ones while challenging older participants with technique and strategy. By the end of the session, participants will have an overall understanding of the sport. Returning students will continue to perfect their technique.

Wilmington Tennis instructors are certified pros, each having earned their designation through Tennis Canada. Each lesson will hold a 6:1 instructor to participant ratio. Please note that participants are required to arrive with appropriate footwear and water bottles. Racquets provided. Parents are welcome to watch.

Yoga - Grades 1 to 6

Welcome to After-school Yoga with YogaMum!  We will be stretching, balancing, breathing, relaxing and strengthening ourselves (body. mind + spirits!) through fun and interactive yoga moves, songs, games and activities.

Cartooning by Young Rembrandts - Grades 1-6

A Different Kind of Learning. A Powerful Kind of Fun! 

Encourage your child’s enthusiasm for art and help develop his or her drawing skills with a Young Rembrandts cartooning class. Your child will learn about exaggeration, drawing facial expressions, and how to create cartoon characters. They will also learn to tell a story through a series of drawings.

Mad Science: NASA: ACADEMY OF FUTURE SPACE EXPLORERS - Grades 1 to 6
Mad Science and NASA have teamed up to bring you the excitement and wonder of space in the NASA: Academy of Future Space Explorers Program. We will take children on a voyage of discovery. With unique hands-on activities, amazing demonstrations and fun educational take-homes, this is an experience that is truly out of this world. In every class, children build a fun and educational take home to fuel their future explorations!
Topics: Planets and Moons, Atmosphere and Beyond, Space Phenomena, Sun and Stars, Rocket Science, Space Travel, Space Technology and Living in Space.

MusIQ - An Enriched Music Program - Grades SK to 6


MusIQ Club is a program that develops the ability to play piano, read music, and teaches the rudiments of composition. The MusIQ Club program uses award winning interactive computer software and state of the art musical keyboards to develop skills. We also provide online software for in-home practice.
By the end of the first level, children are familiar with rhythms, the musical alphabet and will be playing simple pieces on the piano. MusIQ Club classes normally consist of a group of 12    children. We welcome beginners, continuing students and those who have some musical background.

Hip Hop with Artists Play - Grades SK to 3

Fun and exciting dance styles with popular music to groove to! Creative play and improvisation is paired with skill building in this after school program. Students will learn steps, combinations and tricks as well as be encouraged to find their own personal style. Each class provides time for students to create and explore what they have learned in that class. Within the session, the students will have the chance to perform for each other. This component encourages team building and support for each other as they build confidence and valuable life skills. Each student will take new dance styles, skills and the love of dance with them! End of session culminates with an in-studio performance.

Lego Animation by iCompute - Grades 1 to 6

Ready to take your fascination with Legos to the next level? At iCompute, we will have all the Legos you need to create amazing movies. The ideas will be yours, the sets will be built by you, and you will operate all the equipment to bring your masterpiece to the big screen. Whether it’s a re-creation of an epic pirate battle scene, or an adventure in another galaxy, this workshop is the ultimate place to play with Legos. Each student will take home a DVD of their masterpiece filled with titles, narration, music & special effects.

ADVANCED CHESS with Brett Campbell - Grades 1 to 6

Chess Master Brett Campbell will be teaching an advanced tournament preparation program. Sign up for an opportunity to learn more about the tactics and strategies and lots of chances to do puzzles, play tournaments and prepare for the Toronto District School Board Chess Championships! The course is open to all grade 1-6 students although it is strongly recommended that your child is already enrolled in the lunch-time chess program and has some tournament experience.

Dates:
Fridays (Jan. 18 - March 8), 6 weeks. NOTE: No class on PA days Jan 25 and Feb. 15.
